I’ve been traveling by myself full time for a while now. What I’ve learned about trusting the process has helped me a great deal. It doesn’t matter if you’re living your life as a digital nomad or if you have a more traditional lifestyle. Our lives are very similar because we all have hopes and dreams.
Sometimes we paint pictures in our mind of when our dreams will look like when they finally manifest. The problem is that often our reality looks very different than what we had pictured in our mind.
Having an idea of what you’d like your life to look like is fine. But allowing things around you to unfold naturally takes patience. Having patience may not always be as easy as it sounds and people in your life may not support our vision.
In order for me to travel the way I do, I need to let go of control. But to detach from outcomes and trust the process is sometimes hard. Facing the realness of my choice is also sometimes difficult. Throughout this adventure, I live out of a suitcase and I say goodbye to my loved ones repeatedly. Every time I do this, I have to once again put my faith in ideas that the people around me may not understand.
Once you’ve decided to allow the universe to unfold in front of you, a world of possibilities will open up. Having no attachment to the outcome opens the door for you to be delighted with what presents itself to you.
This holds true for anyone with a dream. Sometimes you’re going to have to reach for your dreams alone. You’re going to have to be OK with the fact that not everyone is willing to follow you into the unknown. Trusting the process that feels right for you and not buying into other people’s opinions is the first step in listening to your inner voice.
So, if you’re feeling a little lost in your dreams because not everyone around you is on the sidelines cheering you on, know that this feeling is normal. Being the leader in your own life is knowing that not everyone is going to understand. Trusting the process regardless, will give you the most empowering feeling you’ll ever have.
